The Generation Right Protection Society (GRPS) is set to hold a peaceful demonstration against galamsey (illegal mining) on April 28. The group, led by Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, has been organizing the event to raise awareness about the dangers of galamsey and its impact on the environment.

According to Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah said, the GRPS has emphasized that the demonstration will be peaceful, with participants converging at Obra Spot at 2 pm and marching through Ring Road Central to the Liberation Square.

The group is demanding that the government takes immediate action to stop galamsey and protect the environment for future generations.

The police’s attempt to block the demonstration was struck out by the court, paving the way for the GRPS to proceed with their plans.

The GRPS is calling on all Ghanaians to join them in the demonstration, emphasizing that the fight against galamsey is not about politics, but about protecting the environment and ensuring a sustainable future for all.

Leadership and Route
The demonstration will be led by the GRPS leadership, who will guide participants through the agreed route. The group has assured the police that they will follow the agreed route and instructions, ensuring a peaceful and safe demonstration.

The GRPS’s message is clear: galamsey must stop, and the government must take immediate action to protect the environment. The group is willing to work with the government to find alternative solutions to galamsey, but emphasizes that the issue must be addressed urgently.
