Ghana Launches Climate Center of Excellence to Tackle Climate Change Challenges
Ghana has taken a significant step towards addressing climate change with the launch of the Ghana Climate Center of Excellence. The center, established by the Institute for Diversity and Inclusion (IDIA), aims to promote innovation, research, and capacity building in climate action.
Speaking at the launch, the Technical Director of the Office of the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Cedric Dzelu, emphasized the importance of the center in addressing the country’s climate challenges.
He noted that climate change is having a far-reaching impact on livelihoods, food security, and national development.
The center will serve as a platform for generating practical solutions, supporting evidence-based policy making, and empowering communities to effectively respond to climate change. It will also promote diversity, inclusion, and emergency management in climate action.
Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Issifu Seidu, highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing climate action, including efforts to promote renewable energy, sustainable land use, and climate-smart agriculture.
He also emphasized the importance of partnerships in addressing climate change, citing the need for collaboration between institutions, academia, and industry players.
The launch of the Ghana Climate Center of Excellence is seen as a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to tackle climate change. The center is expected to play a key role in promoting climate resilience and sustainability in Ghana.
