Pan-African Progressive Front Hosts Landmark Online Conference on Reparative Justice

Story by Fada Amakye

The Pan-African Progressive Front (PPF) is set to host a landmark online conference on March 30, 2026, at 3:00PM GMT, focusing on Reparative Justice and Colonial Accountability. This comes after the UN’s declaration of the Transatlantic Slave Trade as the gravest crime against humanity, marking a pivotal year for Africa.

The conference aims to bring together progressive leaders, activists, and policy experts from across the continent and the Diaspora to discuss a unified African stance on reparative justice. Key speakers will address mechanisms and legal frameworks for obtaining reparations, and present the Geneva Forum on Reparative Justice and Colonial Accountability.

The event is a precursor to the Geneva Forum, organized collaboratively with Université Populaire en Suisse, and will launch the PAPF-D Justice Taskforce. The objective is to strengthen collective understanding, encourage coordinated engagement, and contribute to ongoing efforts toward justice, restitution, and accountability.

The conference will feature a lineup of experienced and subject matter expert speakers who will speak on various topics, including the specific mechanisms and legal framework for obtaining reparations. The event will also provide a platform for interaction and bold collective discussion, aiming to create a unified African stance on reparative justice.

The PPF is working to ensure the implementation of the Accra Declaration on Reparatory Justice adopted in November 2025. The declaration calls for concrete actions to address the historical injustices perpetrated against Africa and its people. The PPF plans to establish a taskforce to coordinate efforts and mobilize resources to support reparative justice initiatives.

The conference is open to the public, and members of the press are invited to register for exclusive access to the Q&A sessions and advance copies of the conference documents. The event promises to be a significant milestone in the pursuit of reparative justice and colonial accountability.
