ABBOSSEY OKAI SPARE PARTS DEALERS ASSOCIATION REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO COLLABORATION WITH GUTA AND CONGRATULATES NEW GUTA PRESIDENT

Story by Fada Amakye

Following a highly productive and forward-looking meeting with the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) held on 9th January 2026, the leadership of the Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association wishes to formally reaffirm its strong commitment to renewed collaboration with GUTA, grounded in mutual respect, dialogue, and a shared commitment to strengthening Ghana’s trading environment.

It will be recalled that on 15th December 2025, the Association issued a public statement, duly signed by the Head of Communications, Mr. Takyie Addo, expressing concerns that led to a temporary disengagement from certain GUTA activities. These concerns arose from communication gaps and the non-recognition of the Association’s executive leadership during the inauguration of the newly elected GUTA President.

We are pleased to announce that, in the spirit of reconciliation, unity, and cooperation, the leadership of both organizations has since engaged in constructive dialogue. These engagements have resulted in significant progress toward resolving all outstanding issues that previously affected our relationship. Both parties have reaffirmed their commitment to improved communication, stronger collaboration, and lasting cohesion.

The Association expresses its profound appreciation to the respected Council of Elders from both organizations, whose wisdom, guidance, and timely intervention were instrumental in fostering peace, understanding, and consensus throughout the engagement process.

Chairman’s Message

The Chairman of the Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, Mr. Henry Okyere Jnr., on behalf of the entire membership, warmly congratulates the newly elected President of GUTA on his successful assumption of office. The Chairman expresses confidence in the President’s leadership and emphasizes the need for unity, teamwork, and collective responsibility among all trader groups under the GUTA umbrella.

According to the Chairman, “the challenges facing traders today require cooperation rather than division. We must work together as one team, share ideas, and support one another in order to protect our businesses, stabilize markets, and contribute meaningfully to national development.”

The Association also acknowledges and appreciates GUTA’s renewed recognition of the critical role played by the Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association within Ghana’s automotive and trading ecosystem. As we move forward, we remain fully committed to working closely with GUTA to address industry challenges, promote fair trading practices, and support sustainable growth.

Together, through unity and collaboration, we believe we can achieve far greater results for our members and for Ghana’s economy as a wholes

Signed
