Climate Change Affects All Aspects of Development – AFCCSD Director

The Executive Director of the African Foundation for Climate Change and Sustainable Development (AFCCSD), Francis Aforve, has emphasized the need for collective action to address climate change, which affects all three pillars of sustainable development – economic, social, and environmental.

Speaking at the launch of the Ghana Climate Center of Excellence, Francis Aforve highlighted the importance of education in addressing climate change, citing the need to raise awareness about the negative impacts of plastic waste and the benefits of recycling. He noted that many people are unaware of the importance of proper waste management and its consequences.Francis Aforve also showcased the Ghana Climate Vulnerability Hub, a portal developed by AFCCSD that provides data and information on climate risk and vulnerability. The hub offers insights on rainfall patterns, flooding, drought, and other environmental hazards, enabling informed decision-making.

He emphasized that individual and organizational efforts are crucial in addressing climate change, as the government alone cannot tackle the issue. Francis Aforve encouraged collective action, citing the significance of tree planting in climate change mitigation and the need for sustainable practices.

The Ghana Climate Center of Excellence is seen as a vital platform for promoting climate change education, research, and innovation.

Afobe’s call to action highlights the importance of collaboration in addressing the pressing issue of climate change.
