Ghana’s Minister of Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has handed over 40 advanced armored vehicles to the Ghana Police Service, marking a significant milestone in the country’s internal security efforts. The vehicles are part of the government’s commitment to retooling and equipping the security services to protect citizens and maintain peace and stability.

In a speech, Hon. Muntaka emphasized that the vehicles are not just equipment, but a declaration of the government’s commitment to safeguarding the Republic. He assured that the Ministry of Interior is fully aligned with the President’s agenda of building a modern, intelligent, and responsive internal security architecture.

The armored vehicles will enhance the mobility, safety, and resilience of the Ghana Police Service, particularly in confronting armed criminals, insurgent threats, and high-risk operations. Hon. Muntaka also emphasized the need for comprehensive reform, including modernizing training, strengthening supervision, and improving welfare.

The Minister urged security personnel to use the resources to serve and protect citizens, rather than intimidate or oppress them. He emphasized the importance of professionalism, discipline, integrity, and respect in their service.

The handover ceremony is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen internal security and protect citizens. In recent months, Ghana has received donations of armored vehicles from the United States and other partners to boost its defense capabilities.
