The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has announced the commencement of the 99th cycle cash grant payment of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program, with a total of GH¢139,000,203.37 to be disbursed to approximately 350,580 households, benefiting about 1.5 million Ghanaians.
The nationwide disbursement, starting December 22, 2025, aims to support extremely poor and vulnerable households during the festive season. The grant amounts range from GH¢320 to GH¢530 per household, depending on the number of eligible members.
Dr. Lartey emphasized that the timely disbursement is a result of the government’s “reset agenda”, focused on responsiveness and reliability. The LEAP program has received a historic allocation of GH¢1.1 billion for the coming period, the highest since its inception.
The Minister urged stakeholders to support the ministry in expanding the program’s reach to 400,000 households nationwide in 2026, extending support to more extremely poor and vulnerable households.
The LEAP program’s success is attributed to the tireless efforts of staff, development partners, and stakeholders. Dr. Lartey expressed appreciation for their dedication and commitment to protecting the vulnerable and building a more inclusive society.
The disbursement is seen as a demonstration of the government’s solidarity with the people of Ghana, aiming to share hope, uphold dignity, and empower the vulnerable.
