The Ghana Hotels Association (GHA) has reiterated its commitment to advocating for a strong economic environment that allows the hospitality industry to flourish.

According to Dr. Edward Ackah- Nyamike, aka Junior, President of GHA, the association plays a crucial role in addressing economic factors that affect the industry, such as inflation, foreign exchange, and import duties.

The GHA has been vocal about issues affecting the tourism industry, including the Tourism Development Fund and electricity tariffs. Recently, the association welcomed the government’s decision to review the VAT reforms, which will help alleviate some of the challenges facing the industry.

The association’s efforts have not only improved the sector but also contributed to the economy through tax payments, levies, and job creation. Many hotels also support local communities and venture into hospitality training institutions, further boosting the industry’s growth.

Dr. Edward expressed excitement about the Black Star Experience, a initiative aimed at promoting Ghana’s tourism industry. He noted that tourism has a significant impact on the environment, roads, water, electricity, education, sanitation, and other aspects of society. By promoting tourism, the country can benefit from increased revenue and job creation.

The GHA President urged stakeholders to continue pushing the Black Star Experience to increase tourist traffic into Ghana and make the country a top tourism destination in Africa. With the association’s advocacy efforts and the government’s support, the hospitality industry is poised for growth, contributing to the country’s economic development and prosperity.

In a celebratory mood, the Ghana Hotels Association recently marked its 50th anniversary with a health walk, showcasing the industry’s commitment to wellness and teamwork.

This milestone anniversary is a testament to the association’s dedication to promoting the hospitality industry and contributing to Ghana’s economic growth.
