The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo Esq, has launched two critical national tools, the Youth Explorer App and the National Youth Tracker, alongside the AgriTractive campaign, aimed at empowering Ghana’s youth and promoting modern agriculture.
In a speech, Minister Addo emphasized the need to change the narrative around agriculture, highlighting the sector’s potential for wealth creation and job opportunities. He noted that Ghana imports over $2.2 billion worth of food annually, and encouraged young people to venture into agriculture to take advantage of this market.
The minister also highlighted the alarming rate of youth unemployment, which stands at 22.5%, with more young women than men affected. He emphasized the need for a coordinated approach to youth development, citing the fragmentation of efforts among agencies and stakeholders.
The Youth Explorer App and National Youth Tracker are designed to provide young people with access to skills, opportunities, and meaningful work. The AgriTractive campaign aims to encourage young Ghanaians to lead in modern agriculture and innovation.
Minister Addo assured that the government is committed to rebuilding systems that are fair, cognate, and transparent, and focused on delivering real outcomes for young people.
He called on stakeholders to work together to support the initiatives and create a brighter future for Ghana’s youth.
