Rabotec, a Ghanaian-owned mining services provider, has signed a landmark $400m contract with Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd, marking a significant milestone in the country’s mining sector. The partnership, built on 11 years of collaboration, is expected to drive economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen local content.
Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim, CEO of Rabotec, highlighted the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality mining services while prioritizing safety and local content. “This contract reinforces our commitment to operating safely, performing reliably, and meeting the standards set by Asanko and best industry practices,” he said.
Rabotec has demonstrated its capabilities through a strong safety track record, employing 100% Ghanaian staff, and prioritizing procurement from local businesses. The company has spent over $8m on local suppliers in the last 2 years and is committed to continuing this support.
The partnership is expected to create opportunities for employment, skills development, and community impact. Rabotec employs 950 staff, with 13% female representation and 41% of the workforce from the catchment area. The company is committed to expanding employment, deepening skills development, and increasing community impact.
Rabotec’s footprint extends beyond Ghana, with operations in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Mali, and Mauritania. The company’s growth is a testament to the potential of Ghanaian businesses to operate at the level the industry demands.
