Ghana’s Cocoa Farmers Struggle to Make Ends Meet: A Plea for Support

The cry of Ghana’s cocoa farmers is getting louder, with the President of the Ghana Cooperative Cocoa Farmers Association, Mr. Issifu Isaska, highlighting the dire situation facing these hardworking individuals. Speaking at the launch of the Cocoa Media Hub, Mr. Isaska revealed that many farmers are still awaiting payment for their seedlings and cocoa beans, leaving them struggling to make ends meet.

The situation is taking a toll on farmers, with many finding it tough to pay school fees for their children. “It’s a burden that’s weighing heavily on them,” Mr. Isaska said, appealing to the government to step in and provide necessary support. While acknowledging the government’s efforts in increasing bean distribution, Mr. Isaska urged authorities to prioritize compensating farmers for their hard work, ensuring they can sustain their families and contribute to Ghana’s economy.

The Cocoa Media Hub aims to raise awareness about the industry’s challenges and amplify the voices of cocoa farmers. Mr. Isaska’s plea has sparked concern and calls for action from stakeholders and well-meaning Ghanaians.
