President John Mahama has handed over 100 pickup trucks to the Ghana Police Service, fulfilling a promise to retool the service and enhance internal security. The ceremony marked a significant step in strengthening the police force’s capacity to respond to security challenges.
In his address, President Mahama emphasized that security is built through planning, investment, and sustained support.
“These vehicles are operational necessities that will improve patrols, reduce response time, and extend policing to hard-to-reach areas,” he said.
Mahama stressed the importance of accountability and professionalism, warning against misuse or waste of resources. “Every resource provided for national security must deliver real value to the Ghanaian people,” he added.
The Ghana Police Service has been facing challenges in responding to security threats, and the new vehicles are expected to enhance their effectiveness. The Inspector General of Ghana police service IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno received the vehicles on behalf of the service.
