Supporting Maternal Health and Community Welfare

The Abril Forlov Foundation has donated baby diapers and maternity corsets to the 37 Military Hospital Maternity Ward in Accra, as part of efforts to support pregnant women and mothers in labor.

The donation exercise, which took place at the hospital premises, was aimed at easing the burden faced by expectant mothers who struggle to provide essential items needed before and during childbirth.

Speaking at the presentation, the Manager of the Abril Forlov Foundation, Madam Janet Akosua Adepa Amissah, expressed concern about the increasing challenges many pregnant women in Ghana face, particularly those who lack financial support to cater for items required for delivery and newborn care.

According to her, the foundation marked the day to donate baby diapers and corsets to support women at the maternity ward and to show solidarity with them during a critical period of their lives. She emphasized that the gesture was a reminder to the women that they are not alone.

“Apríl Forlov Foundation is here to let these women know that we are always with them. Pregnancy and childbirth should not be a period of suffering because of lack of basic necessities,” she stated.

Madam Amissah further revealed that the foundation plans to extend similar support to other communities across the country. She disclosed that the foundation intends to visit all the 16 regions of Ghana to undertake various social intervention projects.

She explained that when the foundation visits a community, it engages traditional authorities such as chiefs and elders. With their approval, the foundation undertakes projects such as drilling boreholes and providing pipe-borne water to improve access to clean drinking water.

In addition to health and water projects, Madam Amissah noted that the foundation also provides legal assistance to individuals who are wrongly accused and cannot afford legal representation. She stated that such individuals can seek help from the Abril Forlov Foundation, which will provide a lawyer to support them.

She further encouraged the public to contact the foundation for assistance in cases requiring consultation with the police or the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), assuring that the foundation is always ready to respond to those in need.

The donation at the 37 Military Hospital highlights the foundation’s commitment to maternal health, justice, and community development across Ghana.
