The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has emphasized the need for a reset in student discipline in Ghana’s educational institutions. He expressed concern over recent incidents of indiscipline, violence, and destruction of property in schools, often triggered by students’ desire to cheat during exams.

He urged the Cadet Corps Board to work with stakeholders and the Ministry of Education to expand cadet programs in all schools, including junior high schools.

The Deputy Minister highlighted reports of drug abuse among students at the basic level, adding to the challenge. He emphasized the importance of partnership between the board, ministry, and stakeholders to tackle indiscipline. By using the Cadet Corps as a catalyst, Dr. Apaak hopes to reset the moral compass of the country and bring about discipline in the school system.

The Ministry expects the Cadet Corps Board to double its efforts in promoting discipline and responsibility among students. With the President and Minister’s expectations high, the board’s success will be crucial in shaping the behavior and character of Ghana’s youth.
