"Ghana Strengthens Cement Industry with Inauguration of New Monitoring Committee"

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has inaugurated the Fourth Portland Cement Monitoring Committee (PCMC IV) at the Ministry’s main conference room. The committee’s establishment under the Export and Import (Restrictions on the Importation of Portland Cement) Regulations, 2016 (L.I. 2240), reflects the government’s commitment to upholding standards and integrity in the cement industry.

The PCMC IV will enforce regulations governing the sector, conduct oversight and monitoring to ensure compliance, collaborate with key institutions and stakeholders to safeguard quality standards, and provide recommendations to government on measures to sustain growth while protecting the interests of Ghanaians.

The Minister emphasized the committee’s critical role in protecting the integrity of the construction sector and ensuring the safety of citizens, urging members to uphold the Oaths of Office, Secrecy, and Allegiance with dedication and integrity.

The inauguration signals the government’s determination to safeguard the vital cement sector and ensure it operates within the law and in the interest of Ghanaians.

The Ministry has assured its support for the committee’s success, and the PCMC IV’s work is expected to contribute significantly to Ghana’s national development by promoting a stable and equitable market that supports sustainable progress in the construction industry.
