Story by Fada Amakye
The Church of Pentecost Abeka District Schools Outreach Ministry, in collaboration with the Health Workers Guild and the District Women Ministry, embarked on a mission to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child. The team visited Harrow International Preparatory School and Majomar Montessori Academy, spreading a message of empowerment and support.
During the visit, the team donated sanitary pads to girls and pens to boys, encouraging them to reach their full potential. Dcns Vida Birikorang, leader of the Abeka District Women Ministry, emphasized the importance of supporting girls and promoting their education. She encouraged the students to take advantage of the resources available to them and to strive for excellence.
Mrs. Nancy Eshun, Palliative Specialist from Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, provided valuable information on breast cancer awareness, early detection, and treatment. Her presentation was informative and engaging, empowering the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to take care of their health.
Pastor Prosper, leader of the Abeka Area School Outreach Ministry, and Pastor Samuel Mireku Kesse, Abeka District Pastor, along with his wife, Mrs. Doreen Mireku Kesse, were present to offer words of encouragement and support. They emphasized the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance in achieving one’s goals.
The initiative demonstrates the church’s commitment to empowering girls, promoting education, and raising awareness about critical health issues. By providing essential items and valuable information, the church is making a positive impact in the lives of students and contributing to the development of their communities.
The students were visibly touched by the gesture, and many expressed their gratitude for the support and encouragement they received. The visit was a resounding success, and the church’s efforts are expected to have a lasting impact on the students and the community.
