“Ghana Explores Potential of Sustainable Aviation Fuel”

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority has emphasized the importance of developing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in Ghana. Speaking at the ICAO Sustainable Aviation Fuel workshop, Madam Juliet Agyapomaa Okae highlighted the potential benefits of SAF production for the country’s economy and environment.

The development of SAF has the potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the aviation industry. Ghana aims to align its growth in the aviation industry with global climate aspirations, and SAF production can play a key role in achieving this goal.

SAF production can create jobs and promote economic development in Ghana.

SAF can be produced from feedstocks such as used cooking oil and waste materials, which are abundant in Ghana.

The workshop is being sponsored by the UK Government, and Ghana is one of the African countries benefiting from a feasibility study on SAF development and production. The study aims to assess Ghana’s capabilities in SAF production and identify opportunities for sustainable development.

ICAO is providing technical assistance to member states, including Ghana, to support the development and deployment of SAF.

The workshop has brought together relevant ministries to discuss the potential benefits and challenges of SAF production.

Ghana stands to benefit from SAF development and production, and the country has the potential to promote SAF production. The workshop aims to improve the country’s understanding of SAF production and identify opportunities for sustainable development.
