The Ghana Police Service has received a significant boost to its operations with the handover of 40 special purpose armored vehicles. The vehicles, comprising 15 armored personnel carriers, 20 Cobra 3, and 5 Cobra 4 high-grade armored vehicles, are expected to enhance officer safety, improve operational efficiency, and ensure a high level of security across the country.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno expressed delight in receiving the vehicles, citing the steady rise in risks faced by police officers in the line of duty. He commended President Akufo-Addo for prioritizing the retooling of security services and assured that the vehicles would be used to tackle criminal elements and protect citizens.

The IGP highlighted the police service’s efforts to ensure security and law and order, including strategic preventive measures and intelligence-led operations. He cited several successes, including the arrest of suspects involved in high-profile crimes, and warned that the police would continue to pursue those who threaten national security.

The armored vehicles are expected to significantly improve police operations, enabling officers to respond more effectively to emergencies and protect themselves from harm. The IGP urged officers to use the resources responsibly and professionally, emphasizing that they are guardians of the Republic, not rulers.
