Story by Fada Amakye
The Executive Secretary for the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Dr. Adam Bonaa, has emphasized the need for thorough inspections of arms entering Ghana through airports.
He stressed that Civil Aviation authorities must check these weapons and train personnel to handle such operations effectively, especially given the high volume of foreign travelers using Ghana’s airports.
Dr. Bonaa highlighted the government’s arms amnesty initiatives, awaiting extension, and announced public awareness campaigns on responsible gun ownership and ongoing amnesty programs.
Thousands of guns have been handed over to the Ghana Police, marking a crucial step towards addressing illicit firearms proliferation and ensuring citizen safety.
