“Ghanaian Women Rescued from Kidnappers in Nigeria”
The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and the National Signals Bureau, has successfully rescued two Ghanaian women, Anastasia Bedu and Evelyn Sewa Kunedu, who were kidnapped in Nigeria. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 500,000 Ghana cedis.
:Rescue Operation:
According to DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, said, The police worked tirelessly to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims. Eight people have been arrested in connection with the case, with five arrested in Ghana and three in Nigeria.
The police investigation revealed that the kidnappers used SIM cards registered with Ghanaian IDs to demand ransom.
The Missing Persons Unit received a complaint on April 25, 2025, about Anastasia Bedu’s disappearance.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 500,000 Ghana cedis and provided a phone number for payment.
The police tracked down the suspects and arrested them, leading to the rescue of the victims.The Ghana Police Service commended the collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and the National Signals Bureau, which led to the successful rescue of the victims.
