Mrs. Adekemi Omotola Ajeigbe, Vice President of NIDO Women Ghana, has revealed the organization’s efforts to combat human trafficking and exploitation of young women in Ghana. Speaking about their work, she highlighted the ploy used by traffickers to lure victims with false promises of jobs, only to force them into the streets.

NIDO Women Ghana works to rescue and rehabilitate these victims, providing them with support and resources to rebuild their lives. “We try to encourage them, motivate them, and let them know that there is more that they can do for themselves,” Mrs. Ajeigbe said. The organization also collaborates with authorities to bring perpetrators to justice, ensuring they face the full force of the law.

Many victims are lured by agents who promise them jobs, only to be enslaved. NIDO Women Ghana works to identify and report these agents, helping to dismantle their networks. The organization has successfully rescued several young women, finding them homes, jobs, and reuniting them with their families. In some cases, the organization provides vocational training to equip the survivors with skills to secure employment.

Mrs. Ajeigbe emphasized that human trafficking is a serious issue, and NIDO Women Ghana is committed to fighting it.

The organization urges the public to be aware and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that collective efforts can help eradicate this menace. NIDO Women Ghana’s work serves as a beacon of hope for survivors of human trafficking, offering them a chance to rebuild their lives and regain their dignity.
