Story by Fada Amakye from Daily Sun news
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in Ghana, led by Director-General Divine Selase Agbeti, has arrested a ring leader who scammed high-level personalities, including members of parliament and government officials, by posing as a recruitment officer for various security agencies.
The suspect tricked victims into believing they could secure jobs in agencies like the Ghana Armed Forces, Immigration Service, Fire Service, Ghana Police Service, and Customs. The CSA worked closely with international partners and law enforcement agencies to track down the suspect, who was eventually arrested at Sege on June 1, 2025.
This operation highlights the growing threat of cyber crime and the importance of coordinated action across law enforcement and cyber security agencies. The CSA commends its international partners for their continuous support in victim identification and repatriation efforts.
The CSA and Ghana Police Service remain committed to working closely with international partners and local stakeholders to dismantle cyber criminal networks, safeguard victims of cyber-enabled trafficking, and strengthen Ghana’s overall cyber security resilience.
The CSA calls on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious online activities to the authorities. With a 24-hour point of contact, the public can report incidents and seek assistance.
This arrest demonstrates the CSA’s efforts to protect Ghanaians from cyber threats. By working together with international partners and law enforcement agencies, the CSA aims to create a safer online environment for all citizens.
