The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has embarked on a thank-you tour to Amenfi Central in the Western Region to express appreciation to party supporters for their massive support and votes during the recent general elections.

The tour was held in the company of the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, and the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Peter Ampongsah. The visit formed part of a nationwide initiative by the NDC leadership to acknowledge the efforts of party branches and grassroots members who contributed significantly to the party’s electoral victory.

Addressing party faithful, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia stated that the purpose of the tour was to strengthen interaction between the national leadership and the grassroots. He emphasized that the party’s success was a collective effort, driven largely by the dedication of branch executives and supporters at the local level.

According to him, the recent electoral victory recorded by the NDC was historic, describing it as unprecedented since 1992. He noted that the party does not win elections from its headquarters but through the hard work of its branches across the country, which is why it was important to return to thank them personally.

“We have come to say thank you because you worked hard to bring this victory. When people feel appreciated, they will always work with a good heart for the party to move forward,” he said.

Hon. Asiedu Nketia also used the occasion to speak about development, revealing plans to complete the Market Circle project and improve operations at the Takoradi Harbour.

He disclosed that President John Dramani Mahama had appointed him as Chairman of the Harbour, and steps were already being taken to address challenges there. He added that the improvements would make Takoradi a key transit hub for goods destined for Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, instead of routing them through Tema.

In her remarks, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe thanked the people of Amenfi Central for their unwavering support and prayers. She called on constituents to continue praying for the national chairman, noting that his success would translate into progress for the constituency and the nation as a whole.

The thank-you tour ended on a note of unity, gratitude, and renewed commitment to development.
