Nsawam Begins Work On New 24-Hour Market To Boost Trade

NSAWAM— Work has officially started on a new 24-Hour Economy Market in Nsawam-Adoagyiri, with the Municipal Chief Executive saying it will make trading easier and create more jobs.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Selorm Fummey, cut the sod for the project on Thursday. He said the market is part of government’s 24-hour economy policy and will help businesses operate day and night.

According to Hon. Fumey, the market will not be an ordinary trading place. It will have a police station, banking centre, clinic, and other key facilities to support traders who will work in shifts.

“The market will be the hub for business under the 24-hour economy,” he said. “With a three-shift system, traders will have a safe and modern place to work around the clock. This will increase trade and grow the local economy.”

He added that the project is expected to create jobs, improve trading conditions, and position Nsawam-Adoagyiri as a major commercial centre in the Eastern Region.

Also present was the Okuapeman Adontehene, Otoobour Djan Kwasi II. After receiving a briefing on the project, he described it as timely. He said market women and traders in the municipality will benefit greatly.

The Adontehene praised the government for the initiative and expressed hope that it will improve livelihoods and support sustainable growth in the area.

Municipal authorities say construction will begin immediately and they will ensure the facility is completed to standard to serve traders operating at all hours.
