"APC's Hassan Ayariga Slams Nigerian Kingdom Plans, Yesterday's Demo Demands Action"

Story by Fada Amakye

Founder and presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga, has vehemently opposed an alleged attempt by a Nigerian national to establish an Igbo kingdom in Ghana. This development has sparked widespread concern, with many Ghanaians taking to the streets yesterday to demonstrate against the plans.

According to Dr. Ayariga, the acquisition of over 50 acres of land by a Nigerian of Igbo descent poses a grave threat to Ghana’s sovereignty, unity, and legal integrity. Describing the act as “illegal, unacceptable, and dangerous,” he accused the unnamed foreign national of exploiting Ghana’s hospitality and ignoring the country’s laws.

Dr. Ayariga demanded a full-scale investigation by National Security into the land acquisition process, as well as the revocation of all permits associated with the venture. He also urged the arrest and prosecution of the individuals involved and called on the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, alongside the Lands Commission, to explain how such a transaction was allowed to proceed.

The APC presidential candidate further advocated for a firm policy directive from the government to prevent the unauthorized establishment of chieftaincies or kingdoms by foreign nationals in Ghana. “Ghana is not for sale. Our freedom is not negotiable. Our people deserve better,” Dr. Ayariga emphasized.

The protests yesterday underscored the growing unease among Ghanaians, who view the alleged kingdom plans as an affront to their national identity and sovereignty.

As the situation unfolds, Dr. Ayariga’s demands reflect a broader call for action to protect Ghana’s interests and uphold its laws.
