The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Ghana celebrated a major milestone recently, marking 60 years of dedication to the development of the logistics and transport sector in Ghana. The event was attended by Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, who represented the President of the Republic of Ghana.
In his address, Debrah congratulated CILT Ghana on reaching this milestone, highlighting the institute’s significant contributions to Ghana’s economic journey. He noted that the pioneers who founded CILT Ghana recognized the importance of strong logistics and efficient transport in driving economic growth.
Julius Deborah praised CILT Ghana for living up to its vision of equipping the workforce, modernizing the transport system, and opening Ghana to global opportunities. He emphasized that the institute’s expertise in logistics, supply chain, and transport is indispensable for the success of the government’s flagship policy, the 24-hour economy.
The Chief of Staff challenged CILT Ghana to embrace the next chapter with renewed energy, building capacity for a 24-hour workforce, training in digital tools, logistics technologies, and sustainable practices. He also urged the institute to partner with the government to modernize transport and supply chain infrastructure to support uninterrupted operations.
Julius Debrah emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public sector, private sector, industry, academia, and professional bodies like CILT Ghana. He noted that success cannot be achieved by government alone and that CILT Ghana’s expertise and leadership are crucial in driving Ghana’s economic transformation.
The Chief of Staff expressed the government’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for the logistics and transport sector to flourish. He urged CILT Ghana to position itself at the center of Ghana’s economic transformation, building a logistics and transport system that supports a truly 24-hour economy.
