“GGAGG Exposes Shocking State Capture at National Lottery Authority”

The Good Governance Advocacy Group Ghana (GGAGG) has uncovered a scandalous state capture deal at the National Lottery Authority (NLA), alleging that a private entity, KGL, has been granted exclusive rights to operate lottery games in violation of Act 722.

KGL’s exclusive rights to sell 5/90 lottery games digitally contravene Act 722.

NLA’s collapse could result in billions of cedis lost annually. The arrangement between NLA and KGL is alleged to be a form of state capture, benefiting private interests at the expense of the state.

Ghana stands to lose billions in public revenue annually.

The authority’s collapse could undermine fair competition and market access. The alleged state capture could erode public confidence in democratic governance.

GGAGG calls for the cancellation of KGL’s exclusive license. NLA must restore compliance with Act 722. A forensic audit of NLA’s contracts and transactions with KGL is demanded.

NLA’s Sovereignty*: GGAGG wants NLA to be free from private capture and political interference.

The GGAGG is calling on the current Managing Director of the NLA to take urgent and public steps to address the alleged state capture and restore the authority’s integrity. Failure to do so could lead to the immediate shutdown or dissolution of the NLA.
