Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama has pledged Ghana’s support for Jamaica in the aftermath of a devastating disaster, announcing that Ghana will send engineers, masons, carpenters, and other experts to help with relief efforts and provide tarpaulins for makeshift shelters.
Speaking at a conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the historic fifth Pan-African Congress, President Mahama emphasized the need for African unity and economic transformation, highlighting the continent’s rich natural resources and youthful population.
He noted that Africa remains a continent rich in natural resources, but poor in global influence, with too many people remaining unemployed, undereducated, or excluded from opportunity. President Mahama called for a struggle for economic transformation, technological sovereignty, climate justice, and a fairer global financial order.
The conference, held in Accra, the home of Kwame Nkrumah and the Pan-African struggle, brought together delegates from across Africa and the diaspora to renew a covenant of responsibility, unity, and commitment to building an Africa worthy of the sacrifices of those who came before.
