“Zero Tolerance for Corruption: GoldBod Warns Taskforce Members”
The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, has delivered a stern warning to members of the newly inaugurated GoldBod Taskforce, cautioning them against any form of abuse of power or unprofessional behavior.
During the inauguration ceremony, Gyamfi emphasized that the task force has been equipped with the necessary training, logistics, and resources to effectively carry out its mandate, which includes enforcing ethical gold trading and ensuring strict compliance with the law.
Gyamfi stressed that the task force is expected to operate with professionalism and patriotism, and that any member found to be engaging in corrupt practices or misconduct will face severe consequences. “We will protect those of you committed to doing your job, but we will deal ruthlessly with any member who brings the name of the government or the nation into disrepute,” he warned.
The GoldBod CEO highlighted the organization’s commitment to transparency, revealing that a new digital licensing system has been introduced to eliminate bribery, extortion, and bottlenecks in the application process. “We’ve introduced a seamless, digital licensing system… The process is online, straightforward, and corruption-free,” he said.
Gyamfi appealed for public cooperation, especially from players in the gold trading industry, urging them to operate within the law and ensure that they have a valid license from the Gold Board before engaging in any gold transactions. “We must all make a commitment to comply with the law,” he emphasized.
The GoldBod CEO concluded by calling on all Ghanaians to support the initiative, noting that the success of the task force depends on a collective national effort to sanitize the gold industry.
