“National Pensioners Association SSNIT Ablekuma Branch Celebrates 10 Years Anniversary”

The National Pensioners Association SSNIT Ablekuma Branch recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of unity, solidarity, and financial security for its members. The branch chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Patterson, reflected on the branch’s journey, highlighting its humble beginnings and growth over the years.

The branch started meeting at Kaneshie, but a group of six people, led by the late Reverend Kudom, decided to find a more convenient location. With the help of Reverend Father, they secured a space at St. Johns Anglican School, where they still meet today.

To mark the 10th anniversary, the branch organized a series of activities, including a launch in March, health talks, and fun games. The health talks focused on good eating habits, emphasizing the importance of nutrition for older adults. The fun games provided an opportunity for members to socialize and bond with each other.

Mr. Patterson emphasized that the 10-year milestone is significant because it shows the branch’s ability to bring people together and move forward despite challenges. He noted that the pensioners’ association is a place where members contribute to their own financial security, and unity is essential for the association’s success.

The branch is currently on a membership drive, aiming to attract more members to the SSNIT pension scheme. Mr. Patterson encouraged institutions and individuals to join the scheme, highlighting its benefits and importance for financial security in old age.

Mr. Patterson shared a story about two young boys who were amazed that their grandmother received a pension without working. The boys aspired to work in government institutions so they could receive a pension in their old age. Mr. Patterson attributed the branch’s vitality and youthful spirit to the pension scheme, which provides financial independence and security for its members.

The National Pensioners Association SSNIT Ablekuma Branch’s 10-year anniversary celebration is a testament to the power of unity and solidarity among pensioners. The branch’s growth and success serve as a model for other branches, and its membership drive aims to extend the benefits of the pension scheme to more people.
