The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Duuti Tuaruka, has announced the successful arrest and conviction of robbery suspects responsible for two major incidents in the region. The suspects, identified as Isaac Elias and Dapa Manta, were arrested on May 14, 2025, after a thorough investigation led by the regional police command.
The first incident occurred on May 11, 2025, at around 1:25 pm, when two armed men on a motorbike attacked staff at the Donor Head Office located at Domino, a suburb of Accra.
The suspects fired a local pistol into the air, threatening the victims and making away with a Tecno Pop smartphone, 5500 Ghana cedis, and a handbag containing personal effects.The second incident occurred on February 5, 2025, near ACP Galicia, where three suspects, Christ Aniko, Emmanuel Lee, and Prince Osu Elias, robbed a victim of an iPhone 11 Pro Max and some tablets valued at 6000 Ghana cedis. The suspects used knives and scissors to inflict injuries on the victim, resulting in nine wounds.
After a thorough investigation, Isaac Elias was arrested and confessed to the crime, leading to the retrieval of key exhibits, including a mobile phone, motorbike, and clothing used in the operation. Dapa Manta was also arrested at a mining site between Osino and Sama, and the police recovered a pistol and live ammunition used in the robbery.Isaac Elias was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on two counts, while Dapa Manta was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Further investigations linked the suspects to a separate robbery incident, and three accomplices were arrested and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
DCOP Duuti Tuaruka emphasized the police command’s commitment to fighting crime in the region and assured the public of their safety and confidentiality. The command encourages the public to provide information to support ongoing efforts to combat crime.
In a separate incident, the police arrested a 30-year-old trainer, Mohammed, for possession and distribution of suspected dangerous drugs. The suspect was identified through intelligence operations and arrested after attempting to sell the drugs to an individual in the area.
