The Ministry of Education has announced that Ghana has been selected to host the 2025 trial of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA). The trial is scheduled to take place at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra from October 29th to 31st, 2025.
The event will bring together 350 participants, including over 30 ministers of education, high-level representatives from the World Bank, African Development Bank, UNESCO, Gates Foundation, MasterCard Foundation, senior policymakers, thought leaders, researchers, and academia.
The conference aims to promote education in Africa by sharing knowledge and evidence on groundbreaking innovations that will strengthen the resilience of Africa’s educational systems, advancing towards ending learning poverty by 2035. It will provide a platform for knowledge sharing, peer learning, and partnership building among stakeholders in the education sector.
Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, stated that the event will provide an opportunity for Africa to interrogate strategies for enhancing foundational learning, leveraging technology and data to improve learning outcomes, and advancing technical and higher education. He emphasized that artificial intelligence will affect the way we learn, teach, and govern education in the future.
The event will discuss proven strategies that turn educational challenges into opportunities and bring solutions to those problems. Participants will also forge partnerships that will accelerate learning outcomes for millions of African children and commit to actions to end learning poverty by 2035.
Ghana, with support from partners, including the World Bank and the Global Partnership for Education, has seen an improvement in out-of-school children being integrated back into school. The Minister expressed commitment to ending learning poverty by 2035 and expanding infrastructure across the country to improve the quality of education.
The conference will be opened by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama. The Ministry of Education welcomes participants to Accra for this crucial discussion on Africa’s educational future.
