Gov’t Reaffirms Commitment To Universal Healthcare As 118 New Doctors And Dentists Are Inducted

The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality healthcare for all Ghanaians as 118 newly qualified doctors and dentists were formally inducted into practice.

The Minister for Health, *Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh*, MP for Juaboso, was represented by *Dr. Hafiz Adam*, Director of Technical Coordination at the Ministry of Health and Public Health Administrator.

Addressing the inductees on behalf of the Minister, Dr. Adam said the new practitioners will help strengthen Ghana’s health workforce of over 14,000 dedicated professionals.

On behalf of the government and the Ministry of Health, I extend my warmest congratulations to you all. Your journey to this point has been defined by discipline, perseverance, and sacrifice,” he said.

Dr. Adam also thanked families, lecturers and mentors for their support, and reminded the new doctors and dentists that their oath is a _“solemn covenant of humanity.”_

“Whilst your knowledge will earn you respect, it is your humility that will earn you trust,”_ he told them.

He added that government, in partnership with the Medical and Dental Council, remains committed to enforcing ethical standards and expanding access to healthcare through the Free Primary Healthcare policy, also known as *ProCare*, which was launched two months ago at Obuasi.

Dr. Adam further congratulated the Medical and Dental Council on the commissioning of Phase One of its Cancer Specialist Training Center and new Head Office complex. He described it as a symbol of progress in strengthening medical and dental regulation in Ghana, and pledged government’s support for Phase Two of the project.

The 118 inductees received provisional registration to begin their housemanship at accredited facilities across the country.

MDC Inducts 118 New Doctors And Dentists Into Practice

ACCRA— The Medical and Dental Council, Ghana has formally inducted 118 newly qualified doctors and dentists into the profession.

The induction ceremony was led by Dr. Divine Ndonbi Banyubala, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical and Dental Council.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Banyubala said the induction is a public affirmation of the new practitioners’ competence, character, and commitment to serve.

He explained that the Council is the statutory body under the Ministry of Health mandated to ensure only qualified persons practice medicine and dentistry in Ghana. The exercise was done under the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, 2013 Act 857.

“This induction is not merely symbolic. It is a public affirmation of competence, of character, and commitment,”_ Dr. Banyubala stated.

The 118 inductees received provisional registration to begin their housemanship across accredited health facilities in Ghana.

– University of Ghana Dental School, Accra
– KNUST School of Dentistry, Kumasi
– KNUST School of Medical Sciences, Kumasi
– Family Health Medical School, Teshie, Accra
– University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences
– And foreign-trained doctors and dentists who passed the Council’s registration exams

Dr. Banyubala charged the new doctors and dentists to uphold competence, compassion, and integrity as they begin frontline practice.
“From today, you bear primary professional responsibility for the lives entrusted to you. You are now custodians of public trust,” he told them.

The ceremony was attended by the Honorable Minister for Health, represented by Dr. Hafiz Atantahe, Director of Technical Coordination, as well as families, friends and well-wishers who joined physically and online.
