Headteacher Mr. John A. Benson reflected on the school’s remarkable journey, celebrating 60 years of providing quality education. In a poignant speech, he paid tribute to the school’s founders, William Nathan Ferguson Amaye and his wife, and acknowledged the dedication of teachers, parents, and students.
“Harrow works,” Mr. Benson emphasized, highlighting the school’s consistent academic achievements. He urged alumni to reconnect, mentor, and invest in the school, saying, “The future of Harrow will not be built by history alone.” The school has evolved significantly since its inception, adapting to changes and growing into a reputable institution.
Mr. Benson praised teachers for their tireless efforts, saying, “You are the heartbeat of Harrow.” He acknowledged the countless hours spent preparing lessons, coaching, and mentoring students, often without recognition. The school’s commitment to excellence is evident in its results, with students consistently achieving top grades.
As Harrow looks to the future, Mr. Benson emphasized the importance of innovation, values, and resilience. “The next 60 years will demand even more from us,” he said, calling on stakeholders to work together to ensure the school remains a beacon of excellence. The school is committed to raising standards, strengthening character, and preparing students for life.
The 60th-anniversary celebration features various activities, including a digital library launch and compound revamp. PTA Chairman Crosby Deborah highlighted the school’s projects, including reshaping the compound and visiting an orphanage. The school is also focusing on promoting its core values: integrity, excellence, leadership, and service.
