Prominent NPP stalwart and diaspora organizer, Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, has officially joined the race for the First Vice Chairperson position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

She becomes one of the few women with extensive diaspora leadership experience to contest for the slot, a position considered crucial in steering party affairs, shaping policy direction and ensuring unity at all levels.

Obaa Yaa, as she is affectionately called, has over the years played a significant role in mobilizing support for the NPP in the diaspora and has been instrumental in strengthening the party’s structures abroad.

Her decision to contest is seen by many political observers as a major boost for women participation in the top hierarchy of the party.

Party insiders say her rich experience in organization, grassroots mobilization and international networking will bring fresh energy and innovation to the party as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

Speaking to some party supporters, Obaa Yaa said her focus will be on unity, inclusion and rebuilding the party to make it more attractive and formidable.

The NPP is expected to vet all aspirants and conduct balloting in the coming weeks ahead of its much-anticipated national delegates conference.
