Samira Bawumia Launches NUGS Women Podcast to Empower Young Women

Former Second Lady Samira Bawumia has urged young women to take action now, not later, as she launched the NUGS Women Podcast with the National Union of Ghana Students Women’s Wing.
Speaking at the National Young Women Leaders Summit, Bawumia said she sees “endless possibilities” in young women — “future scientists, engineers, judges, ministers, members of parliament, entrepreneurs, innovators, and quite possibly a future president.
She called the podcast more than an event: “It’s a statement that says your voices matter, your dreams matter, your leadership matters, and you aspire to inspire.
Samira Bawumia told students to stop waiting for confidence before stepping up.
Confidence doesn’t arrive before opportunity. Very often, confidence comes because you said yes to an opportunity, especially those that scare you. Growth happens because you stepped forward, not because you waited until every fear disappeared.
On the summit’s theme _Shaping the Future through Female Leadership, Advocacy, and Innovation_, she said it’s “not merely aspirational, but actually imperative” because “the future is being shaped by the choices we make today.
“Leadership begins long before any title. It begins when you keep your word. It begins when you show up, when you take responsibility, when you choose solutions instead of excuses… Leadership isn’t merely a title. It has always been about impact.
She added that “every meaningful change begins with a voice” and urged podcast hosts to “tell authentic stories, celebrate achievements, discuss challenges honestly, and encourage one another.
