Ken Agyapong Leads NPP Presidential Primaries with 53.80% Support, New Poll Shows

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has emerged as the frontrunner in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, garnering between 44.11% and 53.80% of delegate support in a recent nationwide survey. The poll, conducted by research group Academics and Professionals between September 22 and October 5, 2025, sampled 26,150 delegates across all 16 regions, with a 76% response rate.
Agyapong’s dominance is most pronounced in the southern regions, including Central, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Ahafo, Bono, Volta, and Western, where he leads in up to 11 out of 16 regions under optimistic projections. His campaign has gained momentum due to intensified grassroots engagements, increased public visibility, and a growing perception of momentum.
Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia trails behind, securing between 32.21% and 39.51% of delegate support. Although he retains firm control of the northern corridor, his campaign appears to be losing traction nationally.
Other contenders, including Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, trail behind with limited regional influence. Analysts suggest that strategic endorsements from either Adutwum or Agyei Agyapong could influence the final outcome.
Lead researcher Dr. Evans Duah cautioned that the race remains fluid, emphasizing that the eventual outcome will depend on how effectively each campaign capitalizes on its current support base in the months leading up to the primaries.
