Story by Fada Amakye
The Mamprugu Youth Association, Accra Chapter, has called a press conference to demand justice and accountability from authorities regarding the arrest and alleged mistreatment of one of their members. Spokesperson Yakubu Nambe, a law student, emphasized that they are exercising their constitutional right to freedom of expression and seeking action from authorities.
Nambe expressed concern over the police’s handling of the case, citing the arrest and publication of the member’s details, followed by a lack of updates. He urged the police to act professionally and swiftly to resolve the matter, emphasizing that the police are not their enemies but rather friends who must work to uphold the law.
The association is calling on the Inspector General of Police and the Police Council to intervene and ensure accountability. They also appealed to the media to report objectively and avoid inflaming passions, emphasizing the need for peace in Bawku and the importance of bringing authorities to book.
Nambe highlighted the importance of respecting human rights and the rule of law, stating that the youth are committed to building a country where justice is served and the constitution is upheld. He assured that they will continue to push for answers and action from the authorities until their concerns are addressed.
The press conference has drawn attention to the case, with many calling for a thorough investigation and swift justice.
The Mamprugu Youth Association’s efforts aim to ensure that the rights of their member are protected and that those responsible for any wrongdoing are held accountable.
