Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), says robust global standards are critical to realizing the full promise of the digital economy as technologies reshape how societies work, communicate, and innovate.

Addressing stakeholders, the Minister noted that digital technologies — from artificial intelligence to 5G — are transforming economies and redefining innovation, but the pace of advancement brings both immense opportunities and complex challenges.

“Standards are the invisible architecture of the digital world,” Hon. George said. “They ensure interoperability, foster innovation, enhance security, and enable inclusive access to digital services. Without robust and globally harmonized standards, the promise of the digital economy cannot be fully realized.”

His remarks highlight government’s focus on aligning Ghana’s digital ecosystem with international benchmarks as the country scales broadband, digital public services, and emerging tech adoption. Harmonized standards, he indicated, are essential for secure data flows, reliable digital platforms, and inclusive participation in the global digital market.
