I Am Coming To Contest NDC National Chairman And I Will Win–Nii Armah Ashietey Declares

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Nii Armah Ashietey, has officially declared his intention to contest for the National Chairman position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Hon. Ashietey said the time has come for him to return to frontline leadership of the party.

Today is the day that the Lord has made, and I’m here simply to tell the whole world that I am coming. I am coming to contest the National Chairmanship of the NDC, and I’m going to win, he declared.

He said his journey in the NDC has been shaped by years of dedicated service at the grassroots and at the national level.

Hon. Ashietey noted that he has served as Mayor of Tema under former President J.J. Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency, Greater Accra Regional Minister under Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, and Minister for Employment and Labour Relations under President John Dramani Mahama.

He also highlighted his professional background as a lawyer, management and labour consultant, and his work with international bodies including the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) in London.

According to him, he was the brain behind the establishment of the Ghana Maritime Authority and played a key role in recruiting Ghanaian officers to serve on foreign ships.

He said he comes from the grassroots and has what it takes to lead the NDC as National Chairman.
