Chief Sasraku II encouraged members of LiSAG to adopt innovative approaches

Okpleme Nuer Annorbaa Sasraku II, Paramount Chief of Yilo Krobo and President of Yilo Krobo Traditional Council, has sounded the alarm on the pressing need for attention to regional and district boundary issues in Ghana. Speaking at the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LISAG) Annual General Meeting and Seminar, Chief Sasraku II highlighted the numerous challenges posed by these boundary disputes, emphasizing the urgent need for action.

The Paramount Chief called upon LISAG and relevant government ministries, departments, and agencies to implement the recommendations outlined in the 2021 technical report on district boundary issues. This report builds upon the 2012 District Peace Report, providing a comprehensive framework for addressing these challenges.

Chief Sasraku II also encouraged members of LISAG to adopt innovative approaches, foster collaboration, and promote sustainability. By doing so, they can help create vibrant, economically robust, and livable communities. Furthermore, he expressed his confidence in the Ministry of Local Government and Religious Affairs’ commitment to supporting this initiative, believing that together, they can transform communities one area at a time, paving the way for a brighter future for all.

In a related development, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, emphasized the need for mapping and eliminating disaster-prone areas, including flood zones and high-risk areas. Dr. Yeboah’s speech on behalf of the minister highlighted the crucial role licensed surveyors play in shaping Ghana’s future stressing their importance in land use planning, urban development, and environmental assessment. He encouraged LISAG to explore economic opportunities and benefits through mapping and innovative technologies.

As LiSAG looks to the future, Surv. Ing. Samuel Larbi Darko emphasized the need for continued innovation, collaboration, and commitment to sustainable development. With licensed surveyors at the forefront of this transformation, Ghana’s urban centers are poised to become vibrant, economically robust, and livable spaces. The seminar focused on “Leveraging Base Maps for Urban Transformation and Economic Growth: The Licensed Surveyors’ Role.”

Surv. Ing. Samuel Larbi Darko, President of LiSAG, emphasized the vital role licensed surveyors play in shaping the built environment and ensuring sustainable development.

He highlighted the association’s achievements, including a constitutional review, relocation to a new secretariat, and partnerships with reputable organizations.
