The Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP) has launched a program aimed at equipping young Ghanaian women with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the green energy sector.
Speaking at the program’s unveiling, Kodzo Yaotse, Policy Lead at ACEP, emphasized the importance of promoting gender equity in the energy sector, highlighting the need to bridge the gap between research and industry.
The program, which is being implemented in partnership with Solar Taxi, aims to train 200 young women in green energy technologies, including e-mobility, solar, and battery storage systems, over the next three years.
ACEP hopes that the program will not only enhance access to green skills and employment for young women but also contribute to Ghana’s just transition agenda and promote innovation, mentorship, and entrepreneurship.
Yaotse expressed gratitude to Solar Taxi and other partners, including the Ford Foundation’s Jet Plus initiative, for their support, emphasizing that innovation thrives when policy meets practice.
The program is expected to have a positive impact on Ghana’s energy sector, promoting inclusivity and creating opportunities for young women to lead the country’s transition to clean energy.
