“Ghana National Supporters Union Donates Blood to National Blood Services”
The Ghana National Supporters Union (Ghanasu), led by its founder and president Abraham Boakye, has organized a blood donation drive in collaboration with the National Blood Services. Over 100 members of the union turned out to donate blood, with about 90-95% of them qualifying to do so after passing the necessary tests.
A Noble Initiative This is not the first time Ghanasu has undertaken such an initiative. In 2018, the union organized a similar blood donation drive at Winners Chapel, Ghana premises. According to Abraham Boakye, the union decided to donate blood because they believe it’s their social responsibility to help those in need.
Corporate Collaboration
The union partnered with a corporate organization that sponsored fuel for their transportation. The National Blood Services also collaborated with them to facilitate the blood donation process.
Support for the Nation
Ghanasu’s mission is to provide support for Ghana’s national teams. They have been involved in various charitable activities, including donating to victims of floods and supporting fundraising efforts. Recently, they traveled to Mepe to demonstrate their support for the Fenatuo Festival and donated to the community.
Provision for Donors The National Blood Services, in conjunction with Royal, provided refreshments for the donors, including tea, beverages, and snacks. This gesture was appreciated by the donors, who felt valued and cared for during the process.
Ghanasu’s blood donation drive is a testament to the union’s commitment to giving back to the community. Their efforts will undoubtedly contribute to saving lives and promoting a culture of voluntary blood donation in Ghana.
