Hon. George Opare Addo, Ghana’s first Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, has reached out to the Christian Council of Ghana for collaboration in empowering the country’s youth. The ministry is focused on addressing challenges facing young people, including mental health concerns, unemployment, and substance abuse.

The minister outlined five key areas of focus: health and well-being, education and skills development, economic empowerment, civic engagement, and personal development and leadership. He emphasized the church’s role in mobilizing youth for peaceful civic engagement and promoting tolerance and unity.

Specific areas for collaboration include career mentorship programs, digital literacy training, scholarships, and apprenticeship training. The minister highlighted the church’s potential in providing vocational training to equip young people with skills.

With Ghana’s youth making up nearly 70% of the population, the ministry aims to unlock their full potential and tap into this resource for national development.
