The Greater Accra Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has engaged its stakeholders on inspection procedures and service delivery.

The engagement was led by Mrs. Genevieve Ama Adzrah, who represented the Greater Accra Regional Director of the GTA, Mrs. Roberta Baaba Mprah Arhinful, also known as Roberta Dawson-Amoah. Mrs. Arhinful could not attend due to another official engagement.

According to Mrs. Adzrah, the meeting was to educate stakeholders on what the Authority expects during inspections and to address questions from operators.

She said the Authority is concerned about poor service delivery in some hotels and restaurants, a concern also raised by the President of the Ghana Hotels Association.

To address this, she said there is a need for proper training of staff and a reduction in high staff turnover.

“Staff need to be trained. We train the staff and the next few days they are gone. We need to look at a school that will properly train the staff so that they come and stay, she said.

On licensing, she explained that hotels must meet a set of requirements before being given a certificate to operate, adding that full details and procedures are available on the GTA website, http://gta.gov.gh.

The meeting involved members of the Greater Accra chapter of the Hotels Association.
