QNet Calls for Direct Selling Legislation to Protect Ghanaians

QNet, a direct selling company, is advocating for the establishment of a direct selling legislation in Ghana to protect consumers and regulate the industry.

According to Naana Quartey, Global Compliance Officer at QNet, such legislation would provide guidelines for companies operating in the country and ensure consumer protection.

Benefits of Legislation
Consumer Protection:

Legislation would protect consumers from unscrupulous businesses and ensure that companies operate fairly and transparently. Qualification and Registration: Companies and distributors would be required to meet specific requirements, including registration and compliance with tax laws.
Refund Policies:

Legislation would also ensure that companies have clear refund policies in place, protecting consumers’ rights.

Challenges Without Legislation
-lAd Hoc Enforcement:

Without legislation, law enforcement agencies may struggle to effectively regulate the industry, leading to inconsistent and unfair treatment of businesses.
Business Closure

QNet’s experience has shown that some direct selling companies have had to leave Ghana due to the lack of clear laws and regulations, making it difficult for them to operate sustainably.

Call to Action Government Intervention

QNet is calling on the government to establish a direct selling legislation that would provide a clear framework for companies operating in the industry.
Industry Regulation

Legislation would help to regulate the industry, ensuring that companies operate fairly and transparently, and that consumers are protected.

By establishing a direct selling legislation, Ghana can create a more favorable business environment and protect its citizens from unscrupulous businesses.
