The Ghana Hotels Association, in collaboration with Orangeplus Media and Events, recently launched the International Housekeeping Week 2025 at the Lancaster Hotel in Accra. The event was themed “Housekeeping: Everything We Touch is Awesome” and aimed to recognize and appreciate the hardworking housekeepers in the hospitality industry.
Dr. Edward Ackah-Nyamike Jnr., President of the Ghana Hotels Association, expressed his excitement about the program, noting that it has been successful in meeting its objectives. He emphasized the importance of housekeepers in ensuring that hotels provide a clean and serene environment for guests to rest, relax, and conduct business.
The president highlighted that the association will take up issues raised during the meeting, including remuneration, appreciation, and recognition for housekeepers. These issues will be discussed with hotel owners, shareholders, and directors to improve the working conditions and services provided by housekeepers.
The Ghana Hotels Association is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, with a year-long celebration that started in April. As part of the celebration, the association has planned a symposium in the Central Region on “50 Years of Advocacy, Perseverance, and Impacting Ghana’s Tourism and Hospitality Industry.” Additionally, honorary awards will be presented in January to recognize outstanding contributions to the industry.
The association will also encourage hotels to prioritize appreciation programs for housekeepers and other staff members. This initiative aims to promote a culture of recognition and appreciation within the hospitality industry.
By celebrating International Housekeeping Week 2025 and its 50th anniversary, the Ghana Hotels Association demonstrates its commitment to recognizing the hard work and dedication of hospitality professionals in Ghana.
