The NAHSAG Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Launch 2025

The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG), under the leadership of H.E Ahmed Yakubu, President and Chief Spokesperson, successfully launched the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2025. This pivotal event was held at the Ministry of Health Auditorium on October 10, 2025, and brought together health students and fresh graduates from across the country.

The event featured esteemed keynote speakers, including:

Hon. Mohammed Sherif Abdul-Khaliq, Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency and Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health

Dr. Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira, Former Director General of the Ghana Health Service

Dr. Josephine Nsaful, President of the Breast Society of Ghana and General Surgeon at the Breast Surgery Unit of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

A representative from the office of Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Gender Minister

“A Call to Action for Improved Emergency Response and Cancer Care”

Hon. Abdul-Khaliq Mohammed Sherif, Member of Parliament for Nanton, has emphasized the need for improved emergency response and cancer care in Ghana’s health sector. Speaking at a recent event, he commended students from various health disciplines for coming together to address common challenges.

The event highlighted the importance of collaboration among healthcare professionals, including medical doctors, laboratory scientists, nurses, and midwives. Hon. Sherif noted that when healthcare professionals work together, they can provide better care for patients and improve health outcomes.

Hon. Sherif also discussed the challenges facing Ghana’s health sector, including limited access to screening services for breast cancer and cultural taboos around discussing breast health. He emphasized the need for increased awareness and education to address these challenges.

Breast cancer is a significant public health issue in Ghana, with most cases diagnosed at advanced stages. Hon. Sherif highlighted the need for improved screening services and education to promote early detection and treatment.

Hon. Sherif called on healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the public to work together to improve Ghana’s health sector. He emphasized the need for increased investment in healthcare infrastructure, education, and training to promote better health outcomes.

By working together, Ghana can improve its health sector and provide better care for its citizens.
