HAVE A CHANGE OF MINDSET TO FIT THE NEW WORLD — DR JOSEPH DARMOE URGED THE GHANAIAN YOUTH
Dr. Joseph Darmoe, programs Director for Konrad Adenauer Stiftung has urged the youth of Ghana to attitudinal change of minds and improve upon themselves to suit the new world.
He said, the world is rapidly technologically developing, hence there is an urgent need for the youth to be visionary and innovative incline to embrace the new trend.
According to him, many people doubt being successful in Ghana and, therefore decided to travel overseas for greener pastures.
“some people think there is no hope for them in the country to be successful. But let me assure you that there is hope in you for yourself. When we aggregate all the hope in each one of us, we will have some hope in the country and we will add grace to it”
Adding that “the politics in this country is not working and it has never worked since independence; it does not matter which party color. It is not working not because the politicians are bad, it’s because Ghanaians are bad so if we have to fix this country we have to develop and change our mindset and attitudes”.
He made this assertion at the prof George Ayittey Memorial Awards in Accra on Saturday 25th November on the theme: Inspiring Minds, Transforming Nations: The Ayittey Legacy”.
The George Ayitey Memorial Awards was instituted by ACEYE to inspire Ghanaians especially the youth who have the Zeal in transforming Nations.
Prof Enoch Opoku Antwi, Dean of Academic Students at the Academic City University College is of the view that there is an urgent to change the system in Ghana to enable the youth to thrive and part take in decision-making.
“When the system is not producing desired results, they change it, that is what we do all over the world. The country needs a national policy that will allow succeeding governments to continue the unfinished project to avoid debts that the next generation has to pay for”he opined.
He commended the leadership of ACEYE for living up to the dreams of prof George Ayittey. “The future belongs to you; Prof George Ayittey saw it and started engaging the youth and now in our universities, we have the ACEYE clubs where they talk about innovation and entrepreneurial skills”.
Emmanuel Acquah, Co-founder of ACEYE on his part said the memorial awards aimed at celebrating the legacy of George Ayittey and honoring remarkable individuals who in diverse ways, are fostering a resilient Africa.
Manasseh Azure Awuni, Sulley Amin Abubakar, Martin Kpebu, Farida Bedwei, Seth Kwame Boateng, Senyegbe Agbemabiese were presented George Ayittey Memorial Award for Outstanding Efforts in Combating Corruption, Entrepreneurial Innovation and Impact, Distinguished Legal Achievements, Exemplary Governance and Leadership, Excellence in Media and Journalism, Promising Entrepreneur respectively.
