"Ghana Gold Board Unveils Plans to Revolutionize Gold Industry with New Initiatives"

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has announced a series of initiatives aimed at transforming the country’s gold industry. Speaking at a recent event, Hon. Sammy Gyamfi highlighted the board’s commitment to traceability, environmental sustainability, and responsible sourcing, in line with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) guidelines and international best practices.
The Ghana Gold Board plans to introduce a nationwide stability system to ensure that every ounce of gold purchased can be traced back to its verified source and environmentally compliant manner of extraction. This initiative is part of the board’s efforts to promote responsible mining practices and reduce the environmental impact of gold mining.
In addition to this, the board will donate five Toyota pickups and GH₵5 million to support the work of the National Anti-Legal Mining Task Force in the fight against illegal mining. GoldBod has also made significant financial allocations to support the reclamation of thousands of hectares of devastated forest reserves, starting from November this year.
The board plans to roll out a public social responsibility policy in October 2025, which will support mining facilities, modern education, and health facilities, as well as scholarships. Furthermore, GoldBod has launched a mining support program aimed at attracting direct investments into mining, particularly for the procurement of environmentally friendly mining equipment.
In line with these initiatives, GoldBod signed a memorandum of understanding with Stream Global TMCC on August 22, 2025, which is expected to transform into a commercial agreement by November 2025 for an investment of up to $1 billion in establishing over 300 responsible mines in blocked-out mineralized areas.
The board will also collaborate with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and its allied agencies to develop mineral resources and partner with concession owners and communities to maximize Ghana’s gold output through sustainable mining.
These initiatives are expected to increase national gold output, create thousands of jobs in the mining ecosystem, and support the country’s economic development.
